# HAWP: Human-AI Workflow Protocol > Canonical website: https://hawp.online/ HAWP is an open-source, Markdown-first workflow protocol and Go CLI for shaping AI agent work before execution. It preserves intent, context, constraints, evidence, and handoffs across agents, sessions, and tools. ## What HAWP is - A small portable shape for `input`, `context`, `mission`, `constraints`, and `output`, with an optional `checkpoint`. - A repository-local workflow layer built around human-readable Markdown artifacts. - A CLI and optional MCP server for searching and carrying useful project context. - Compatible with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor, Continue, and other agent runtimes. ## What HAWP is not HAWP is not an AI model, agent runtime, orchestration engine, hosted platform, or proprietary memory service. It shapes and carries work so another tool can execute it. ## Primary sources - [HAWP README](https://github.com/sentzunhat/human-ai-workflow-protocol/blob/main/README.md): Project overview, protocol shape, installation, and supported agents. - [HAWP start guide](https://github.com/sentzunhat/human-ai-workflow-protocol/blob/main/.hawp/kit/start-here.md): The five-field workflow shape and repository usage guidance. - [Generated provider guides](https://github.com/sentzunhat/human-ai-workflow-protocol/tree/main/distribution/generated): Installation and update guidance for supported coding agents. ## Optional - [HAWP website](https://hawp.online/): Human-readable product overview and current release downloads. - [HAWP releases](https://github.com/sentzunhat/human-ai-workflow-protocol/releases): Published CLI binaries and release notes. - [HAWP discussions](https://github.com/sentzunhat/human-ai-workflow-protocol/discussions): Community questions and project discussion.
